Hungry Turkish Ladies from Outer Space (?)

"Hungry Turkish Ladies from Outer Space". A B-movie or NASA's alien audience of the Voyager space probes?

When in 1977 NASA launched the two Voyager, it assigned Dr Carl Sagan of Cornell University the task to record greetings from all around the earth. The voices collected were recorded on the famous golden records, affixed on the outside of the two space probes. However, something got lost in translation...

Due to time restrains, Sagan had to rely on people who lived around the university. As a consequence, the voices and the texts recorded were not necessary from native speakers. Potential aliens might be puzzled by some of the messages:

"Friends of space, how are you all? Have you eaten yet? Come visit us if you have time." Amoy (Min dialect)

"Greetings to you, whoever you are. We come in friendship to those who are friends." Greek (and a bit threatening!)

"Good night ladies and gentlemen. Goodbye and see you next time." Indonesian

"Welcome home. It is a pleasure to receive you." Punjabi, obviously an ex Alien base.

"Greetings from a computer programmer in the little university town of Ithaca on the planet Earth" Swedish student, pushing his CV

"Dear Turkish-speaking friends, may the honors of the morning be upon your heads." Turkish, another nation claiming direct alien ancestry.

With messages like that, no wonder why Aliens are staying far away from us!!
